Facebook does dating~ the logical next step
Almost 200 million people list themselves as “single” on Facebook; clearly enough to convince Mark Zuckerberg to add new dating capabilities to the social media favorite. The site already knows so much about you and potential matches, allowing you can get more tailored recommendations. Unlike most dating services, Facebook will be a free one. “This is going to be for building more long-term relationships, not just hook-ups” Zuckerberg said at Facebooks annual F8 developer conference. Many marriages and relationships start on Facebook already. Their focus is to create a service that builds these types of relationships as well as keeping users safe. There will also be fewer catfishes out there if you use . Here is how it will work:
It will let you opt in to create a dating profile. Only non-friends will be able to see it. It won’t show up in your news feed as well. It will match you based on your preferences that you list.
Events and Groups will show up that match your interests, you will be able to ‘unlock” one for dating. That will allow you to see other profiles that have also unlocked it for dating.
You can also browse through dating profiles. Profiles will show a few photos as well as basic information about that user. The people you will be shown will be based off mutual interests as well as friends and other things Facebook already knows about you.
If the feelings mutual and your both interested, you will be allowed to start chatting with someone in a special inbox. That inbox is separate from messenger and WhatsApp. Only text can be sent for now for your safety and theirs.
It will be interesting to see where this will take us in the dating future. Testing of this will start later this year. One big question is, has Facebook built enough barricades between its social network and dating feature? Facebook’s Chief Product Officer Chris Cox said “dating was always a natural fit for Facebook thanks to its ubiquity, data and trusted platform for identity.”
"Singles here show up fully, connect with intention, and build strong relationship foundations. The best online dating site is more than an app, it's where meaningful connections blossom" ~ MeetMindful
If you’re into meditating, yoga, eating healthy, volunteering, fitness, and nature this dating app is just for you. Meet Mindful is more of a dating site where you a connect on a spiritual level. Its focuses more on self-development and meeting those who are on the same train. This app is for people that want more positivity in their life, for the meditating, worldly, and well-traveled type person. But Meet Mindful doesn’t discriminate. You can be into all the above or just a few...or maybe you just want to connect with a person with these qualities to create a more balanced self.
Meet Mindful’s Words:
"MeetMindful is more curated than other mainstream dating apps and sites, particularly those offering free messaging. Trust us, we’ve tried them all. At the end of the day, we were tired of superficial profiles, and unsatisfied with casual encounters (and ghosting). So, we created what we were looking for ourselves”
It takes about ten minutes to set up a profile. You include and exclude the lifestyle choices you want to see in your potential match. Even if you’re not single and want to meet new friends this app can be beneficial. You can state if your married or in a relationship on your profile. It is free to join; new users get a “premium” membership for free for two days and it allows you to like your favorite matches which lets them know you’re interested. A premium membership allows you to conduct advanced searches. For example you can search mindful practices you’d like to find in your match, or filter by their diet, religion, education, etc. Once premium, you can message matches, see who is viewing and liking your profile and have faster customer support. Both premium and free members will receive Match Maker emails to show who has signed up in the area that you’re in.
